St John Zimbabwe delivers a range of training programmes, including First Aid education, through its Schools Programme. This initiative extends first aid training to learners from primary through to secondary school level, helping to build essential lifesaving skills from an early age.
As part of the programme, teachers are trained in first aid skills by St John Zimbabwe instructors. These teachers then pass on this knowledge to their students, ensuring that first aid awareness is embedded within the school environment and sustained over time.
Each year, St John Zimbabwe also hosts the School First Aid Competition, providing a platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in first aid. While the competition was originally limited to schools within the St John Schools Programme, it has been open to all schools nationwide since 2014.
The competition is structured through Regional Championships held in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, and Mutare. Winning teams from both primary and secondary school categories at each regional level then progress to the National Competition, where the best teams from across the country compete.
