Our work is driven by a shared commitment to serve something greater than ourselves. We bring together volunteers, trainers, healthcare professionals, and communities around a common purpose: to save lives, reduce suffering, and improve health and wellbeing across Zimbabwe.

While our reach is national, our impact is deeply local felt in the communities we serve every day. From urban centres to rural areas, we work alongside partners and local stakeholders to deliver first aid training, emergency response support, and community health programmes that address real and pressing needs.

Our work is grounded in the values of humanity, dignity, and service to others. We believe in empowering people with the knowledge and skills to help one another in times of need.

We invite you to be part of this mission and join us in building safer, healthier communities across Zimbabwe.

Volunteering

The St John Brigade is a team of active, uniformed first aiders who volunteer their time and skills to support their communities. Brigade members provide valuable first aid services and participate in community activities, helping to promote safety, preparedness, and emergency response.

The Brigade operates through a structured membership system, with members organised within a defined reporting hierarchy. Anyone can join the Brigade movement after successfully completing an advanced first aid course.

St John works with various organisations where Brigade members can volunteer their services. All volunteer hours are recorded, and members have opportunities for progression through the ranks, from Ordinary Member to Officer, Commander, and ultimately to Knight or Dame.

Membership in the Brigade provides an opportunity for individuals to develop their first aid skills, serve their communities, and participate in a wide range of activities, including sporting events, church gatherings, musical concerts, and other community engagements.

Fundraising

Fundraising helps us to continue delivering lifesaving first aid training, emergency response support, and community health programmes across the country.

Through fundraising initiatives and partnerships, we can equip more people with essential lifesaving skills, support our community outreach activities, and strengthen our ability to respond to emergencies in both urban and rural areas.

Every fundraising effort contributes directly to our mission: saving lives, reducing suffering, and improving health and wellbeing in communities across Zimbabwe.
